X.vu - Because Every Character Counts!

X.vu – Because Every Character Counts!

http://x.vu

I like short domains, I have invested in several three and four letter domains. I even have a 1 letter domain in my portfolio. X.vu to be precise, but for years it sat idle in my portfolio collecting digital dust. Until now… Because after seeing all these new URL shorteners popping up everywhere, I noticed that the majority of them where, how shall i put it? Long! So that’s when I decided to build a new URL shortener that will be as short as it possibly can get, 1 letter!

I worked together with a friend for a few days and in late April 2009 we launched an early beta version of X.vu. We first believed that X.vu was the first 1 letter URL shortener, but we quickly discovered that this was not the case. So no bragging rights there! But X.vu can still be proud of being one of the shortest URL shorteners in the world! Something we proudly share with the other 1 letter URL shorteners out there. No matter how you put it, the 1 letter domain club is a very exclusive club to belong to.

Having said that, just because X.vu is one of the shortest URL shorteners does not make it a success! There are over 100 url shortening sites that we know of. So why launch another you might ask? This is a valid question! Our vision is to develop X.vu into something more than just another url shortener. We did some serious brainstorming and came up with some really cool features that we will implement in the near future. I can’t tell you what they are yet, but I can tell you this. These features have never been tried before with any past or exsisting URL shortener!

Stay tuned…
